The Shamshir originated in Persia and spread throughout the former Ottoman Empire and beyond, gaining popularity in India and even into the Philippines. Its strongly curved blade was ideal for delivering devastating cutting and strokes, as well as amazingly effective rising, descending and hooking thrusts.
Cold Steels very own Shamshir has a deeply curved blade with a narrow cross section and a needle sharp point. Made from high-performance high-carbon steel and provided with a battle ready edge it is beautifully balanced and a joy to use - cutting and thrusting with equal ease.
The Shamshirs stylized brass crossbar is more than capable of turning, parrying and blocking an opponent's attacks, while its iconic bulbous faux Buffalo horn pommel helps counter balance the blade while securely keeping the sword in-hand when making a hard cutting stroke.
The Shamshirs exquisite scabbard is also a close copy of its historical counterpart. Made of thick, black leather that won't dull the blade, and reinforced by a brass throat and chape, it comes complete with dual suspension rings making carrying and drawing the sword a breeze.
