Our review of the WD Red 6TB NAS Hard Drives. Back in 2012, Western Digital announced a new series of hard drives designed specifically for usage in NAS (Network Attached Storage) devices. These new “Red” drives had better reliability than standard drives, were more energy efficient, and came with a 3-year warranty. Recently, Western Digital increased the capacity of their top-tier drive to 6TB, allowing you to cram even more data into the same physical space. We got our hands on two of these 6TB drives to see exactly what they were capable of.
