Trying to update Mac Pro 2009 Quad 2.66GHz from 4,1 firmware to 2010 5,1 firmware. Each attempt briefly shows the firmware update progress bar, then clicks off and restarts. [RESOLVED— see comments below]
Resolution [reply to a comment]: Hey, surprised by the comment...I never actually posted anywhere about the problem. But yes, I did figure it out. I didn't realize it at first, but the machine did not have the latest "official" firmware applied yet. B04 instead of B07 or something like that maybe. Once I applied the official firmware, I was able to then apply the 5,1 hacked firmware. Are you absolutely certain your firmware is the most current 4,1? It didn't occur to me to even think about that at first!
