Michael joined the BBC in the Gramophone Library at Egton House. He then
Moved to Sound Archives in BH. Continuing his time in domestic radio he got a job in the little known Maida Vale Radio Film Unit. This led him into TV, specifically with Film Department, where he worked in their Co-Productions office inspecting film prints for co-producers abroad. This in turn led him on to be trained an Assistant Film Editor in the cutting rooms at TFS. He enjoyed working in dubbing theatres where he occasionally did some voice overs. This led, quite by chance, to some interesting weekend work.
Michael worked in local radio as a Technical Operator and reading the
News for BFBS radio, the British forces broadcasting service. With these
microphone and technical skills he soon joined the World Service at Bush
House and worked there for over twenty years as an Announcer and
Newsreader.
All the time he enjoyed the many opportunities offered by the BBC Club.
One activity in particular was to sing with the BBC Club Choir - singing is something he continues to do to this day.
As for his post retirement life.....he is now a freelance voice for The
Economist Audio Edition, a job he's been doing for more than 13 years -
And works with some of his former BBC World Service colleagues.
