China's HJ10 ultra long range anti-tank missile has once again appeared in media reports, showing its combat process.
In the video, the HJ10 missile system, which is based on a tracked armored chassis, easily crosses the rough terrain and enters the combat position. It then raised the mast of the electro optical search and tracking devices and ready to launch the missile at targets. The mast also allows the vehicle and crew to place themselves behind obstacles, reducing the possibility of being detected and attacked by the enemy.
The vehicle can carry up to eight missiles on its launch pylons. After obtaining and locking the target, the HJ10 missile takes off from the launch container and flies to the target. The missile uses built-in electro-optical guidance equipment and can transmit its own video of the target area to the launcher vehicle in real time via fiber optics, allowing the crew to view the target area and intervene, for example, to select the highest-value target for maximal result.
The HJ10 missile reportedly has a maximum effective range of more than 10 kilometers. This makes it difficult for enemy tanks and armoured vehicles to detect incoming missiles and almost impossible to shoot at the HJ10 launching vehicle.
The HJ10 missile has a large tandem HEAT warhead and can easily penetrate the tank's top armor. Few tanks can withstand its attack. It can also destroy other high-value targets deep behind enemy lines.
