On a late summer day (2020) we went on a daytrip to Giethoorn, the so-called Venice of the north. No streets but small canals, beautiful houses with green gardens and big lakes. The scenery was really beautiful.
Giethoorn is a largely car-free town in the northeastern Dutch province of Overijssel. It is known for its waterways full of boats, as well as its walking paths, bike paths and centuries-old thatched roof houses. The place borders on part of the Weerribben-Wieden National Park, a swampy landscape that was once a popular peat and reed mining area. Next to the park is the Museumboerderij 't Olde Maat Uus, a museum farm that tells the history of the region.- wikipedia.
