LORIS PROPEDO
WINE BUYER AT MONDIAL WINE LTD
After over 15 years in the hospitality industry working as Bartender and Sommelier for prestigious hotels and restaurants in Italy and Germany, he came to London in 2003, has studied at the WSET and Court of Sommelier and is also a member and teacher at the UK Sommelier Association, being passionate about sensorial analysis he also gained qualification as olive oil, balsamic vinegar, coffee, tea, mineral water, Sake, Armagnac, beer and honey tasterall this skills where used as staff training forLocanda Locatelli restaurant where he worked as Head Sommelier and wine Buyer until 2016.
Since August 2016 he joined Mondial Wine Ltd as Development manager and Wine Buyer which is a specialized supplier of high quality wines and spirits from Italy with a particular attention for indigenous grape varieties.
SARA MUIRHEAD MW
MASTER OF WINE AND WINE CONSULTANT
Sara has worked in the wine trade for twenty-nine years, during which time she has visited many of the world’s wine producing regions. She achieved her Master of Wine qualification in 2008, having written her dissertation on the (then nascent) subject of English Sparkling wines.
Sara started her career started working on Wine magazine. Later, at Arblaster & Clarke Wine Tours, she arranged and accompanied wine tours to some of the world’s best wine estates. She then moved into wine PR and marketing at Liberty Wines, where she became the marketing manager and developed a passion for Italian wines. Her career has also encompassed wine judging, and she has led wine schools and wine tasting classes.
Since 2006 Sara has worked as a freelance consultant to wine importers. Currently her main focus is wine PR and marketing, and the organisation and management of wine tastings and events.
STEFANO PASQUAL
HEAD SOMMELIER AT GORDON RAMSAY GROUP
Experienced Head Sommelier with a demonstrated history of working in the hospitality industry. Skilled in Food & Beverage, MICROS, Sommelier, Hospitality Management, and Wine. Strong operations professional graduated from IPSSAR G.Maffioli.
** About London Wine Competition**
The London Wine Competition is an international wine competition organized by Beverage Trade Network. The competition looks to recognise, reward and help promote wine brands that have successfully been created to identify with and target a specific wine drinker. For any wine brand to earn its place on a retailer’s shelf or a restaurant’s wine list - and then vitally stay there - they need to be marketable and consumer-driven and not just produced in the general hope it can find enough people willing to sell and buy it.
That is why the London Wine Competition is different. It will single out and shine the spotlight on those wine brands that consumers really want to buy and have a clear market value for trade buyers.
