Ideally you need an input device and a 3.5mm cable male both ends.
Don't use the the input jack that's come from your head phones.
One maybe powered the other not.
IIRC the input is not powered like headphones.
The SOP - 16 RDA IC might be a bit tricky if you don't have a microscope and a good soldering iron.
