The 1994 Atlantic Hurricane Season was the last season of the recent -AMO phase or period in the Atlantic that brought below average sea surface temperatures throughout the basin. Of course, 1994 was below average with a incredibly low ACE rating of 32. The strongest storm, Florence, peaked as a high end category 2 hurricane that stayed out to sea. The most significant storms were both Alberto and Gordon, Alberto caused catastrophic flooding in Georgia while Gordon caused thousands of fatalities in Haiti and damaged parts of the Caribbean and Florida, despite the destruction from these 2 systems they weren’t retired.
