Join Matthew Vander Heiden, recently named director of MIT’s Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, to hear his vision for the future of cancer research at the Institute. From his research addressing one of the fundamental puzzles of cancer biology, to his work as a practicing oncologist, Vander Heiden draws on diverse and complementary perspectives as he guides the Koch Institute into its second decade. With his sights set on the big questions in cancer, and an eye toward opportunities to apply MIT’s strengths in machine learning and computer science to cancer challenges, he sees several pathways for MIT to make key new advances in the fight against cancer.
