The government has introduced changes to the Criminal Procedure Act and the Criminal Law Amendment Act, in a desperate move to combat the disruption of the country's essential infrastructure.
The changes seek to regulate bail in respect of infrastructure related offences and introduce minimum sentences. President Jacob Zuma made the announcement in Cape Town after the quarterly meeting of the Presidential Infrastructure Co-ordinating Commission Council.
