The Danish band-leader Theodor "Teddy" Petersen (1892-1991) and his Orchestra playing their version of Irving Berlin's famous "Alexander's Ragtime Band", recorded in Copenhagen, April 1939.
At that time Teddy Petersen had one of the most popular dance orchestras in Denmark, he made regular broadcasts from Restaurant Wivex (placed next to the main entrance of Tivoli), where he and his orchestra were engaged from 1932 to 1946.
In his long life, Teddy Petersen had his own orchestra for almost 60 years, and he was an active musician for more than 75! An extraordinary career. Needless to say that Teddy Petersen made many records - in the 78 rpm era he made more than 1100 recordings.
The vocal part is sung by the then very famous Valdemar Davids (1900-1964), who was the band's regular vocalist from 1937 to 1946. Davids himself have made more than 900 recordings, from 1927 to 1954.
