The village of Pukanu is situated on the Iriri River, a tributary of the Amazon, in the state of Para in northern Brazil. The Kayapos, once nomads, are now a sedentary people.

They have built their circular villages on the banks of rivers. Today, the women go into the forest to harvest their crops and cook in an amazing underground oven!
