Two views of the C1-class X-ray flare from sunspot region (NOAA Active Region) 1108.
The first view is at the 304-Angstrom wavelength, and the second view is at the 1700-Angstrom wavelength. The first view reveals plasma streams, clouds, as well as the flare itself (the flash). The second view shows the burst of energy that explodes during the flare event.
This event did not eject any Earth-facing coronal material.
Each view covers the time period of about 0001 UTC to 0359 UTC, on September 17, 2010, as viewed by the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) Atmospheric Imaging Assembly (AIA) at 304 Angstroms and 1700 Angstroms
