In this video, we have discussed the clinical uses and classification of parasympathomimetics, also known as cholinergic agonists. Cholinergic agonists are divided into direct-acting agonists and indirect-acting agonists. The direct-acting agonists are further divided into cholinesterase, which includes agents like acetylcholine, bethanechol, methacholine, etc., and alkaloids, including nicotine, muscarine, and pilocarpine. Their clinical uses mostly contain xerostomia or dry mouth, lack of tears, glaucoma, myasthenia gravis, Sjogren syndrome, GIT peristalsis problems, urine obstruction, etc.
