Gray and white rami communicans are very short structure which connect ventral ramus of spinal nerve to sympathetic chain . white rami communicans contain myelinated pre-ganglionic sympathetic fibres so it looks whtie . Gray rami communicans contain non-myelinated post-ganglionic sympathetic fibres so it looks gray in colour. white rami communicans are distally attached but gray rami communicans are proximally attached . All thoracic and upper two or three lumbar spinal nerves are attached with both gray and white rami communicans but cervical and sacral spinal nerves are attached with only gray rami communicans .
