Discover Citrus County is an award-winning magazine published each October by the Citrus County Chronicle. Each year the Discover magazine focuses on a new and unique theme giving readers a glimpse into the past, present, and future of our beautiful community, Citrus County, Florida.
This year we decided to give a little taste of Citrus County history. Have you ever wondered why certain roads, parks, or buildings are named after people? Join us as we present “The story behind the name.” a look at the people that roads, buildings, and parks are named for in Citrus County, Florida.
The De Rosa Village, as well as the De Rosa Plaza, the De Rosa Flea Market, and the De Rosa Plaza Fire Company are named after the De Rosa family.

Pete De Rosa moved his family to Citrus County in 1968 from Long Island, New York. They developed land in Citrus County for housing, shopping and even a volunteer fire company.
