WHY THIS SESSION ON UPSC (IAS exam) PRELIMS PREPARATION: Dr. Vikas Divyakirti goes into the recent history of the Hindi medium aspirants at the Prelims (esp the CSAT). He humorously recalls that after CSAT a certain ‘species’ got more selection. Then there was a movement against it and the government realised the mistake and made CSAT a qualifying paper at the UPSC prelims. Then the number of Hindi medium successful aspirants at CSE increased but did not increase as much as expected. This can be explained by the fact that they lack strategy. So in this seminar, he gives a detailed strategy of the UPSC CSE which will be helpful for both Hindi and English medium students.

CONTENT OF THE VIDEO- PRELIMS EXAM STRATEGY
The video discusses the following agenda that fog the mind of students:
(1) Whether to appear in the UPSC civil services (IAS) preliminary examination? (you realise this is actually a question as the months pass and you start questioning yourself)
(2) What should be the target score (or safe score) in the Prelims exam (of UPSC civil services exam)? It also discusses the aspect of negative marking (and hence target number of questions)
(3) What should be the target segments in the GS paper (and CSAT paper) to achieve the target score to qualify at the CS Prelims exam?
(4) What are the sources to prepare for the target segments (Kya padhein? Which books and sources to read for UPSC Prelims preparation)? What not to read is the more important point to note here as time available is always less than the time in hand for the vast syllabus.
(5) What should be the schedule of study? It means the day wise routine of study and also the schedule over the coming months (until 3 June 2018 or a date in 2019 if you will appear in the PT exam in 2019).
(6) Other miscellaneous suggestions related to UPSC Prelims examination that students have in mind.
