Human Rights Day December 10
Human Rights Day is celebrated, every year, on December 10.
The day remembers the United Nations General Assembly's adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
In 1993, an autonomous public body, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India, was found for the protection and promotion of human rights, which works on rights relating to life, liberty, equality and dignity of an individual.
The theme for 2016 is 'To stand up for someone's rights'.
As per the UN website, they've asked people to step forward and defend the rights of a refugee or migrant, a person with disabilities, an LGBT person, a woman, a child, indigenous peoples, a minority group, or anyone else at risk of discrimination or violence.
