The Nigeria Labour Congress, or NLC, has denied rumours that it may call off the scheduled nationwide strike for Wednesday. The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) made it clear that the strike would only be called off if the Federal Government and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) took the necessary actions to return to the pre-subsidy era situation.
The Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited officially adjusted pump prices after fuel subsidies were eliminated, and the NLC on Friday declared a statewide strike in response.
It is significant to note that President Bola Tinubu declared the age of petroleum product subsidies to be over in his inaugural address. The political climate in Nigeria has been significantly impacted by this change in policy since May 29, 2023.
