Mercedes-Benz Driving Assistance and Safety technology features Blind Spot Assist which makes it possible to spot one of the major hazards in traffic. This system uses sensors on the back of the vehicle to detect incoming vehicles on either side of the car.

If a vehicle is detected in the blind spot, a red triangle lights up in the exterior mirror to alert the driver that there is a vehicle in the blind spot. If the driver disregards this warning and activates the turn signal indicator, the system emits an additional, audible warning.
Exit Warning is also part of Mercedes' Blind Spot Assist package and can detect passing vehicles, cyclists or motorbikes traveling at more than 5 mph with the same sensors. This safety feature delivers the same visual alert in the side-view mirror, warning of an approaching moving object.
If the driver, or passengers, attempt to use the door handle, an additional audible warning will sound and the ambient door lighting will begin to flash red to signal that there is something approaching the vehicle and it may be unsafe to open the door.
