Growing Rice in Vietnam | Rice Farming in Vietnam | Vietnam Village Life
As an Englishman living in a Vietnamese countryside village, daily life in Vietnam is extremely interesting to me. How do they Grow Rice in Vietnam is a two part series in how we get rice to our dinner table here in the Vietnamese countryside.
Common questions asked about rice farming in Vietnam are;
Do they grow rice in Vietnam? Yes of course, they are now second in South East Asia for exporting rice to the world (3rd in the world behind India and Thailand).
How many seasons of rice are grown in Vietnam? Usually two seasons for harvesting rice is in May and October, only the Mekong Delta gets three seasons of rice harvest due to the climate.
How much can a Vietnamese rice farmer make in one season? Not a lot, I have seen some of our family members earn just 8m VND for 1 tonne of rice (rice covered in husk).

See the process from start to finish, from ploughing the rice fields, levelling, growing the seedlings, planting and fertilising to give beautiful green and yellow rice fields as far as the eye can see, ready to harvest.

Hi, I am Simon and I am an expat living in a Vietnam Village in northern Vietnam. I will be documenting my life in a Vietnam Village, offering snippets of local daily life in Vietnam.
Living in Vietnam as an expat, I will show you what goes on during a working day or even a playful day. It could be gardening, fishing, weddings, public holidays, traditional cultural celebrations, riding bicycles through other villages or even making everyday items such as brushes or bamboo items.
I will also document the whole season of rice farming from ploughing the fields to eating a bowl of rice on the table. Follow along with Simon as he explore Vietnam country life.
