How many of you know someone that struggles to finish tasks? Or maybe you’re trying to learn something new and can seem to get it? Maybe it’s a new habit you’re trying to create? First, most of us can appreciate the importance of practice. If you don’t do it, or practice, it’s less likely to improve at it. Growing up, I was taught the concept of “practice makes perfect.” I’ve come to appreciate that practice doesn’t mean perfect, it just makes more “permanent.” Instead, the concept of purposeful practice is more important. How are you practicing? Is it frequent? Is it with thought? Awareness? Or is it without thought? Without purpose? In our vision therapy program, we do our best to reinforce purposeful practice and in coaching we call it taking action and keeping focus.
What skills are you trying to bring into your life? And how successful are you at achieving it? If you know someone that is struggling with this, or having a hard time with motivation, send me an email or message. I’m excited to hear from you!
