Are you satisfied with the explanation that the moon 'pulls the ocean water upwards'? You shouldn't be, because your coffee is staying nicely in its cup, instead of getting pulled out. That's because the 'pulling'-explanation is not correct. What the moon's gravity does, to cause the ocean tides, is much more subtle.
