(22 Jan 2015) A car packed with explosives blew up on Thursday in Lashkar Gah, the capital of Helmand province in Afghanistan, killing three and wounding 16 people, officials said.
Omar Zwak, the spokesman for the provincial governor, said that the car bomb hit a vehicle being driven by members of the Afghan police, killing two officers.
Initial reports from a police official on the scene said there were five wounded and no dead, but that figure was subsequently revised.
Zwak said that among the wounded were seven policemen and five children.
