In this program, learn about art theft resulting from Nazi plunder during 1933 – 1945 within Germany and throughout Europe. More than 650,000 pieces were stolen from their owners who were often Jewish. Since this is a large chapter in history, learn the stories within including what Hitler deemed 'Degenerate Art', the Monuments Men, and Gustav Klimt's 'Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I'.
Sarah Burris (Artist and Librarian at Bay County Public Library) has both her Master of Library and Information Science and Master of Fine Arts from Kent State University. A different Art History topic will be scheduled each month while there is interest.
