This blocked ear wax removal extraction procedure is performed by UK pioneer and world-leading endoscopic ear wax removal specialist Mr Neel Raithatha (Consultant Audiologist) aka 'The Wax Whisperer’ at his clinic in Oadby, Leicester, UK.
Ear wax removal is necessary when ear wax build up becomes impacted. Symptoms causes by earwax blockage include: earache (otalgia), conductive hearing loss, blocked ear, tinnitus, itchiness and irritation, occlusion etc.
The procedure in this video utilities the iCLEARscope®, Zoellner suction probe and Fine End Gauge 18. He had an infection of the left external auditory meatus. This resulted in masses of debris collecting inside the ear canal.
After I cleared the infected debris, a thick coating of discharge and dead skin was coating the eardrum, obliterating the view of the typical landmarks that can be seen on it. Attaching the Fine End, I then set about suctioning as much dead skin and discharge off the eardrum. This was an extremely delicate and sensitive to perform, but I wanted to be able to clear as much debris off the eardrum as possible so when they are prescribed antibiotics it would be more effective.
