Courchevel Altiport in the French Alps can be a challenging airport to land: you can only land in one direction and you have to make sure you set up your plane properly because there are no go arounds due to the terrain.
Ideally, you want to touch down in the first third of the runway before the runway's upslope The rise is so steep that you may need to add power to make to the top section of the runway. Before landing in Courchevel it is best to get checked with a local instructor.
In this video we see a Piper PA-46-350P Malibu Mirage and it appears he is coming in too fast and too high. He lands very late and has no room to stop. Considering the terrain, I think he decided he had no choice but to force the landing.
I am not sure if the pilot was familiar with the airport or if he was even checked out to land there.
Five people were injured in the landing with one said to be seriously injured.
