In previous chapters, we talked about body language as a non-verbal communication tool. We explored how various gestures, facial expressions, positions, etc. send out signals about who we are, what we think, and how we feel. All these factors determine how we are perceived and judged by others -- and how we see them as well.
Now, what about the verbal communication, which accounts for only 6 percent of human interactions? Can it make a significant impact on the way we understand other people and are understood ourselves? The answer is yes, and that is why in the next several lessons we will talk about the most basic of human communication methods -- the voice.
