Washing and storing your harvested mason bee cocoons in your fridge improves your bee health as they hibernate. Mason bee cocoons are waterproof and your fridge's consistent cold temperature helps your hibernating bees conserve their body fat overwinter. Harvest your mason bee cocoons from October-December and store in your fridge until your fruit and berry flowers open next spring.

1. Separate mason bee cocoons from pests and diseases and the debris of mud walls.
2. Gently wash your mason bee cocoons in lukewarm water. Use your fingers to gently remove the frass from the cocoons. Healthy mason bee cocoons will float and unhealthy cocoons will sink.
3. Lightly blot your mason bee cocoons dry. Lightly spray Clean Bee to treat for chalkbrood and help prevent mold growth.
4. Place mason bee cocoons into your HumidiBee container, ensure the green felt fabric is underneath the black pad. Add one spoonful of water and set your HumidiBee in your fridge set at 34-38F.
