BHE Renewables owns 10 geothermal power plants in Southern California's Imperial Valley, producing enough renewable energy to power approximately 250,000 California homes. [ Ссылка ]
Our geothermal power plants use the Earth's natural heat to generate clean, sustainable energy. Super-heated geothermal brine is recovered from reservoirs up to a mile or more below the Earth’s surface. The geothermal reservoir below BHE Renewables’ power plants is not connected to the Salton Sea, nor the local groundwater. A mineral-rich brine rises up safely through wells and into our geothermal power plant where it is quickly cooled to create steam. The steam, not to be confused with pollution, spins a turbine that generates electricity. Once the brine is cool, it travels back down through an injection well into the same reservoir from which it was collected. There, it can be naturally reheated and reused.
