For those camping, tailgating, or need to use a generator around other people, an inverter generator is practically necessary. The biggest difference between an open frame (old style) generator and an inverter generator is the noise. In this test by [ Ссылка ] we show you the difference in noise, power, efficiency, features and more between the two styles.
Noise: As you'll see, the open frame Coleman Powermate ran at 100 decibels consistent at the unit. Because this style generator can not vary its RPM based on demand, it runs at this rate whether at idle or under load. The inverter generators on the other hand ran about 30 decibels quieter at the unit.
Efficiency: Because an open frame generator cannot vary its RPM based on load, it must continually use fuel to maintain power. An inverter generator will, based on demand, vary its power output. This increase the efficiency and run times.
Features: Many inverter generators now offer many additional features like USB ports, DC power ports, Digital display and more.
