Top 5 Best Small Companions
Everybody has a different relationship with their dog. Some want a playmate, some want a guard for the family, but by far the biggest reason is the need for a companion. There really can be no better animal, we think!
Here's our rundown of the top 5 best small companions to keep you company on those lonely winter nights – and the other seasons too of course ...
5. Italian Greyhound
This smaller version of the greyhound is a delight to have around. He's a bit shy, quiet and sensitive, but will blend in perfectly with the family and be adored by the kids. He gets on with anyone and everyone, and he certainly won't be any trouble. Just tell the kids to be gentle, he's a delicate little thing.
4. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Calm, gentle and well behaved, this little lady is a great choice as a companion. She has a serenity that is addictive, and a way with kids to melt your heart. Her favourite position is snuggled up next to you on the sofa, bedding in as best as she can. Adorable.
3. Maltese
This crazy little troublemaker will fit right in with the more adventurous types. He's cute, there's no doubt about that, so he'll always be able to win you over with those deep eyes when he's been a naughty boy. Then he'll curl up with you as you read or watch TV as if nothing has happened; and you'll let him!
2. Lhasa Apso
She's a fine looking little thing. An independent character too, she'll strut around the house like a cat, choosing when to grace you with her presence. When she decides to give herself to you, boy she does; she'll sit with you for hours; she'd much rather be with you than strangers, that's for sure.
1. Russian Tor Terrier
This great little family dog is a truly intelligent guy. A loving and devoted companion with a pleasant and even temperament. He might come across as a bit strange looking at first, but you'll soon warm to his quirky and attractive look. He’s the kind of dog that loves any type of activity, as long as he's with you.
