It’s time to install new 220v/240v outlets in the new shop. I’m not an electrician BUT I’ve done these outlets so many times I’ve lost count over the years. My friend, legendary pro skater and woodworker Chris Cole joined me to help get the job done. They are very easy to install for bigger, more powerful tools or if you need to put in a charger for your electric vehicle, tesla or EV. I walk you through the process step by step and show you how I approach safety around an electrical panel. For my outlets I used 2 pole, 20 amp breakers, 12 gauge stranded wire, 20 amp 240v outlets, twist lock 20 amp plugs, metal boxes, ground screws, ¾ in conduit and some drywall anchors. You should always follow local code and consult an electrician before attempting these your first time. Typically, unless you have long runs of wire you want to use 12 gauge for 20 amp, 10 gauge for 30 amp, 8 gauge for 40 amp and 6 gauge for 50 amp circuits.
