Chinese motorcycles aren't exactly known for their quality and longevity. While modern Chinese motorcycles like the CSC TT250, the CSC RX3 and the Haosen Hawk 250 have been much better than previous Chinese bikes, it is still uncertain whether or not they have what it takes to stand up to their Japanese competitors when it comes to strenuous dual sport riding.
This weeks adventure takes us to the California High Desert (Mojave Desert) in the brutal summer heat. The little CSC TT250 Chinese dual sport motorcycles never complained once as we subjected them to extreme flogging, countless drops, jumps, sand, rocks, heat and hill climbs. It really was amazing to see just how well the little bikes did keeping up with a Kawasaki KLR650 and a Honda CRF250L, all while being deliberately tortured all day long.
I have often said that the some of the best rides are the ones that are extremely difficult or extremely easy. This ride was definitely one of the former, as we ended up in over our heads in the middle of the desert on a 95+ degree day.
What was supposed to be an easy day of exploring in the California High Desert / Mojave Desert, ended up turning into an adventure that none of us would have ever expected. We wouldn't discover until later was that we would soon be torturing ourselves as we wandered our way into what will forever be known to our group as "Johnson Road"; an extremely sandy road/wash that lead through a canyon deep in Apple Valley, CA. Tired, sore, and out of water, we eventually made our way through the unforgiving sand back to the road and eventually into Lucerne Valley for lunch.
Some of the best parts about dual sport riding are the people you ride with, the terrain you get to experience, and the eventual stories you get to share. I am excited to be able to share this story with everyone, as it is a ride that is burned into our memories and is now the source of laughter within our group.
I know this video is a bit longer than most of my other ones, but I wanted to show exactly how the day went down without having to split it into multiple videos. I am pretty happy with the way it turned out, and I hope you guys enjoy it! Thanks for watching, and I'll see you guys in the next one!
