The European Parliament's energy committee voted to endorse new EU legislation on energy efficiency on 12 July. The EP's rapporteur/draftsman Claude Turmes (Green MEP), who shepherded the legislation through the parliament, explains the boost the new rules will give to the economy and employment, as well as the climate and our energy security, reducing our dependence on energy imports.
