Hotstar is an Indian subscription video on-demand streaming service owned and operated by Star India, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company India. The service primarily features content from Star India's networks, including film, television, sports content, and original programming, as well as content from third-party partners such as HBO and Showtime.
Hotstar operates international versions of the service in Canada, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the United States. These services target overseas Indians and focus primarily on Star India's domestic entertainment and sports content (Disney+ already operates as a separate service in these markets). Star has also extended the Disney+-integrated version of the service into other markets such as Indonesia, and plans to launch the service in Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand in 2021.
