This video shows the Effective Depth of Beam by Thumb Rule.
Effective depth of beam can be defined as the depth from the top compression zone of the beam to the mid of the reinforcement.
In this video one example of beam has been solved to shows the method of thumb rule for determining the effective depth of beam. However one can select the effective depth of beam from this thumb rule but this is not the design method while selecting the depth of beam.
