After a night of perfect performances and a surprise set by UKHC upstarts Last Wishes, it was now time for the final act of the night. This next band got everyone's attention with their meteoric rise to the top, which shows no signs of letting up any time soon, and makes an introduction unnecessary, unless you've isolated yourself under a rock away from the rest of humanity for the last decade or so (good choice by the way). If you didn't know this is Vein.fm, the band formerly known as Vein, who've won over everyone from the older generations of Hardcore fans, the new kids on the block, Nu Metal types, Mall Goth revivalists, mainstream music critics, and even big Metal/Rock centric publications like Revolver and the illustrious Decibel Magazine.
It was absolutely nutty to see it all unfold in real time, having first heard of them when Queensway vocalist Handsome Pat reposted their Bandcamp a couple years before they caught on, and later witnessing the exact moment Vein achieved breakout success in my opinion. Of course I'm talking about their explosive performance at This is Hardcore 2017, when all their homies showed up, and moshed nonstop in the iconic Vein windbreaker. That was how much of the Hardcore fans across the east coast got acquainted with Vein, with the west coast getting a similar experience at Sound & Fury 2017. I consider myself lucky to have been there for that This is Hardcore set, as it was one of the most aggressive pits I've ever seen, moving with enough force to push myself, and at least fifty other people through the side doors of The Electric Factory. That was the first time I'd seen Vein and to this day I've yet to experience another explosive first impression like that.
Not to be that guy, but while I do prefer their earlier stuff from 2013 to 2017/2018, they're still a force to be reckoned with live. I'm glad the kids who only recently started going to shows get to experience Vein's amazing live show, even if they're annoying ADHD having punishers to point where Joseph from Sunami had to confiscate phones like "a math teacher" (having the singer of your favorite band son you is solid learning experience, trust me). Check out Vein's early stuff, their current stuff, go see them live (now as Vein.fm), and even though they got all the support in the world, if you liked them add to that support by buying merch. Enjoy y'all.
Current and former members of Eastbeast, Fleshwater, Living Weapon, Enraged Youth, Living, No Souls Saved, etc.
