Lancaster is a city in Lancaster County, South Carolina and is also the county seat. With an population of a little more than 9,000 residents - it's the 68th largest city in South Carolina. Lancaster is a little less than an hour south of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Lancaster was named after the Famous House of Lancaster. The House of Lancaster was a cadet branch of the royal House of Plantagenet. The first house was created when King Henry III of England created the Earldom of Lancaster.
