Howdy Y'all. Here's my latest drum tuning vid about the distinct sound of an 8 lug snare drum, with tuning details including Tune Bot, and Drum Dial settings. Although my Rogers Dynasonic snare collection has been killing it for me on pretty much all fronts, sometimes a recording/gig requires a different kind of snare sound. So in this video we will discuss, and hear examples of the distinct sound you can expect from an 8 lug snare. Less hardware = more pop, as well as other unique sound elements that you will see/hear in this vid. I include the pitches to which I tuned this drum, Tune bot, and Drum Dial settings for my awesome McRee Drums 8 Lug Solid Shell Mesquite Snare (Stave) fitted with an Evans HD Dry/300 head combo. You will also get to hear how great the Heil PR 30's perform as overhead mics in capturing the true sound of the snare. Especially when paired with the PR22/PR20 combo on the snare.
