Lake Geneva's famous fountain which was stopped due to the COVID-19 epidemic gushed again on Thursday as Swiss cases of the virus fell to low levels.
Attending the ceremony, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organisation, congratulated Switzerland on containing the outbreak but warned all countries to remain "vigilant."
"Now is not the time to neglect cleaning hands, covering coughs or maintaining physical distance. Now is the time to be even more vigilant. WHO has the same advice for Geneva as for the world: find, isolate, test and care for every case and trace and quarantine every contact," Tedros said.
According to Johns Hopkins University, Switzerland has recorded 31,044 cases of COVID-19 and 1,937 deaths.
The Jet d'Eau fountain is one of the city's most famous landmarks and blasts 500 litres of water per second to a height of 140 metres.
