Well here we are folks, my steam tour and video of 2015, and it was a cracking day, as seen whistling across the extensive trackwork at Clapham Junction is preserved Southern Railway rebuilt Merchant Navy Pacific Class 35028 'Clan Line' leading the Belmond British Pullman out of the city with an afternoon train to Shalford from London Victoria.
In the past Clapham Junction once roared to the sound of Bullied Pacifics such as these coming out of both Waterloo and Victoria with trains to Portsmouth, Salisbury, Bude, Padstow, Barnstaple, Southampton, Weymouth, Brighton and Plymouth, but today the station echoes to the sound of modern electric traction motors.
As the train passes underneath the mainlines out of Waterloo at Stewarts Lane Junction, some spectacular eruptions of steam from the underpass, almost like miniature volcanic eruptions!
