George Condo speaks about paintings he called expanding canvases. We take the example of Dancing to Miles a work from 1985 that belongs to the Broad Collection. Condo compares this specific style to musical composition and the idea of variation. And this may be linked to the philosophical concept of Rhizome, an image of thought that apprehends multiplicities, developed by Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari, the latter having been a friend of the artist.
