Itinerary of the day #albaicín #granada #mezquita
Today we discovered the other quarter of the Granada Region which was Albaicin. In the Albaicin village we walked up some rural steep streets and alleys. The house were painted white and of moorish architectural style.
Travel tip: ~~
The hill we walked down from the Alhambra was super steep. And we saw quite a few people walking up. Therefore I would reccomend you walk down that Hill and visit Alhambra before you go to visit the Albaicin village.
In the mirador de San Nicolas there tends to be a lot of shows and some time flamenco dancing however the time we went at it was relativley quiet but it was still very warm. Oustide the Mirador square, there is seating as well as a Morrocan Restraunt that served food and drink.
When visiting the Mezquita, Google stated it would open at 5, however when we arrived it did infact open at 6,so we waited and went around the area of the Albaicin. The entry was free and they had a beautiful water fountain in the middle as well as a cool dainty coin machine. It was funded by Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi ( sovereign ruler of Emirate of Sharjah ) UAE.
After we had visited the Albaicin we were heading back down to our home, on the way down there was one alley which is the route Google Map directs you to go and it had a lot of shops and morrocan gifts. It was similar to a bazaar/souk and lots of people were buying ornamets and souvenirs. It was an extension of what we say in the Alcaiceria market. At the bottom of the alley, it was the main road that had a lot of restraunts.
What we saw:
Albaicin Village.
Mirador de San Nicolas
Mezquita Mayor de Granada
