Augusto Sarti earned his Ph.D. in information engineering from the University of Padova, with joint graduate program with the University of California, Berkeley. In 1993, he joined the Faculty of the Politecnico di Milano, and in 2013 he also joined the faculty of the University of California, Davis. His research interests are in the area of multimedia signal processing, with particular focus on sound analysis, processing and synthesis; space-time audio processing; and music information processing and retrieval.
He coauthored over 250 scientific publications on international journals and congresses as well as numerous patents in the multimedia signal processing area. He coordinates the activities of the Musical Acoustics Lab and of the Sound and Music Computing Lab of the Politecnico di Milano. He promoted/coordinated and contributed to numerous (over 25) European projects.
