In this episode, following my Pragmatics crash course, I am going to talk about Genre, Genre Analysis, and Discourse communities. You will learn different aspects of genre and how they have a social function and how the gatekeepers in discourse communities regulate the conventions and set some rules to keep out the outsiders.
Note: This is a brief introduction to a complex field of study for those unfamiliar with Genre. There will be a second part to cover more advanced topics in more detail.
