A lawyer for Peru's former President Pedro Castillo has told Al Jazeera he is willing to give up his demand to be reinstated if it will stop protests that have swept the country.
Castillo was impeached and arrested on charges of rebellion and conspiracy this month.
Protesters have been demanding his release and early elections.
