On this trip, Miranda tags along to shoot some videos and we catch a lot of fish (bass, catfish, mudfish, etc) before hooking into a massive grass carp!! I accidentally snagged the fish in the tail which made it even harder to fight as it was facing away from me the entire battle. After about 30 minutes, we finally wore the fish down and I was barely able to lift the fish into the boat. It was so heavy that I thought I tore something in my abdominal wall while attempting to lift the fish.

After taking a few photos, we quickly put the fish back in the water and spent several minutes helping the fish recover from the battle. The fish swam off in perfect health, but I thought I was going to die!

Later that evening, when we returned to our Solitude 5th Wheel, I decided to look up the state record grass carp. To my surprise, the record was only 59 pounds and was 53.1 inches in length! Now that's a giant fish but I got to thinking about how heavy the fish I'd released was. I do a lot of deer hunting and carry a ton of 50-pound bags of corn during the months of October thru January. I thought to myself, that fish felt heavier than any 50lb bag of deer corn. Secondly, I tried scaling my photos with my body length vs the fish's length to see if I thought it was anywhere near 53 inches. This was really hard to do but I decided the fish was at least 4-feet long (48-inches). So, who knows, perhaps I released a record fish...again! SMH
