Based on the video game released by Compulsion Games.
The plot and darkly humorous atmosphere is the main reason for it's major kickstarter success: It is an alternate 1964. You play a 'Downer' who has skipped his mandatory drug dosage of 'Joy' which makes the post-apocalyptic surroundings of war torn England look pleasant and cheerful. Without the drug however you rapidly discover people who don't take their joy are hunted like animals and are liable to starve to death if they don't capitulate to the tyrannical rule of Wellington Wells as represented by the sneering Uncle Jack.
But is it better to live a beautiful lie, or risk death for the decidedly unpleasant truth?
